# Data retention

> How long webhook.co keeps your events before they're automatically removed — a window that grows with your plan.

Captured events — including their stored payloads — are kept for a **retention window**, then
automatically removed. The window **grows with your plan**.

## How long events are kept

* **Free** — events are kept for **7 days**.
* **Paid plans** — a longer window, up to a year on Enterprise. See the
  [pricing page](https://www.webhook.co/pricing) for each plan's exact retention.

After the window passes, older events are pruned automatically. Retention doesn't change your
usage — an event was counted when it was captured, whether or not it's still within the window.

## Deleting an event early

Separately from retention, you can delete an individual event yourself at any time — its content is
redacted immediately and its payload purged shortly after. As with retention, this doesn't lower your
usage (the event was already counted). See [events & usage](/events-and-usage) for the details.

<Note>
  Need a longer window than your plan offers? [Upgrade](/help/billing/manage-your-subscription), or
  [forward events to a destination](/guides/send-to-a-destination) you control so you keep your own
  copy.
