# Change your email

> Move your webhook.co account to a new email address, verified with a one-time code and safe by design.

You can move your account to a new email address from your **Security** settings. The change is
verified with a one-time code and takes a few deliberate steps, because your email is tied to how you
sign in.

## How it works

<Steps>
  <Step title="Start the change">
    In your account's **Security** settings, enter the new email address.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Verify it's you">
    We send a one-time, single-use code to your **current** email address. Enter it to confirm the
    change — so someone who briefly has access to a device still can't move your account without
    your current inbox.
  </Step>

  <Step title="The switch completes">
    Your account moves to the new address. For safety, this also **signs you out everywhere** and
    invalidates any pending sign-in links, and we send a notice to your **old** address so you'd
    know if it wasn't you.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  The verification code goes to your **current** address, so change your email **before** you lose
  access to it. Signing in with a connected [Google or GitHub
  account](/help/your-account/sign-in-methods) keeps you signed in, but changing your email still
  requires access to your current inbox to read the code.
</Warning>
