You can move your account to a new email address from your Security settings. The change is verified with a one-time code and takes a few deliberate steps, because your email is tied to how you sign in.

How it works

1

Start the change

In your account’s Security settings, enter the new email address.
2

Verify it's you

We send a one-time, single-use code to your current email address. Enter it to confirm the change — so someone who briefly has access to a device still can’t move your account without your current inbox.
3

The switch completes

Your account moves to the new address. For safety, this also signs you out everywhere and invalidates any pending sign-in links, and we send a notice to your old address so you’d know if it wasn’t you.
The verification code goes to your current address, so change your email before you lose access to it. Signing in with a connected Google or GitHub account keeps you signed in, but changing your email still requires access to your current inbox to read the code.
